John Milton was originally known as Milton Johns. He is an eminent poet and a prose writer too. He worked as a civil servant in the Commonwealth of England. He was born in London on 9 December 1608 and died on 8 November 1674. He was a puritan, for he followed his religious beliefs strictly. The name of his father was John Milton and he was a poet too. His mother was known as Sarah Jeffrey. John Milton completed his graduation from Christ's College, Cambridge in 1629. He received his master's degree in 1632. He was married to Mary Powell, Katherine Woodcock and Elizabeth Mynshull. The first two wives died after the complications, while giving birth to their children (Powell died while giving birth to her third daughter Deborah and after her only infant son, John breathed his last. )
His literary Career
Milton's father wanted his son to come up as a bishop but he showed his affection towards literature. His assimilatory expenditure broadened his literary sense so he came up with these literary geniuses:
